United Way Kickoff

The United Way's 2002 fundraising campaign is underway. Tuesday morning community leaders gathered for a kickoff celebration.

This year's goal is $800,000. The United Way supports more than 20 charity organizations in the area.

"It's important that agencies do their work," said Louis Sutton, director of United Way of East Mississippi. "We do the fundraising that goes back in the community."

This year's focus is individual contributions from the public.
