The supervisors considered approving travel for themselves to ten conferences and conventions between now and July 2005.
The trips included meetings in Washington, D.C., Houston, Tex., Las Vegas and Honolulu.
District 5 Supervisor Ray Boswell objected.
"Why could we not approve some of these trips as they take them because I cannot vote for all these trips," said Boswell. "Some of them may be necessary but in voting for their whole list, I will not be voting for the whole list."
Boswell was supported by Supervisor Craig Hitt and opposed by Supervisors Joe Norwood and Jimmie Smith. Supervisor Eddie Harper was not present, so the 2-2 tie meant the plan did not pass.
