The 367th Maintenance Company is based in Philadelphia with a detachment in DeKalb. The unit has served a year of active duty in Iraq.
The 367th returned home to a heroes' welcome. In Philadelphia, people stood along the streets holding flags and signs as the troops' motorcade made its way through the city.
A brief ceremony was held in honor of the 367th at the National Guard Armory.
Gov. Haley Barbour and First Lady Marsha Barbour were in attendance to welcome home and thank the troops for their commitment to duty, honor and country.
"There is nothing better for me as your governor than to see you standing here, to be able to thank you personally on behalf of a grateful state. Let me say thank you and welcome you home," Barbour said.
The Mississippi Medal for Valor was awarded to families of Matthew Stovall and Joshua Ladd at the ceremony in Philadelphia. Both lost their lives serving in Iraq.
