Supreme Court Candidates

The state Supreme Court of Mississippi consists of nine justices, with three justices coming from each of the state's three districts.

Lauderdale, Newton, Neshoba and Kemper Counties are among the 22 counties in District One, or the Central District.

During this election year, two of the district's three seats on the bench are up for grabs.

Attorney Richard Ray Grindstaff of Byram, a candidate in the race for one of the seats, made an appearance on Good Morning Meridian Wednesday. He faces incumbent William "Bill" Waller, Jr., who is a presiding justice on the court.

Meanwhile, the race for the second seat has four candidates running. Incumbent Justice James Graves, Ceola James, Philadelphia native Samac Richardson and Bill Skinner of Raymond.

Graves recently spoke with us on WTOK's "On The Record" program and candidate Ceola James is scheduled to appear on the program in coming weeks.
