More human remains were found Wednesday, near where a skull was discovered on Dec. 1 in Meridian.
Authorities say the bones found and the skull are that of Elmer Smith, who had lived near where they were discovered, at 507 31st Avenue.
Investigators say the remains will be examined by an expert to try and determine the cause of death.
"At this point, we couldn't give anything but speculation as to what happened in this case," said Lt. Dean Harper. "It will be a long drawn out process. Extensive tests will have to be done to the remains to determine what happened."
Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said he has been unable to locate Smith's family.
