The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services deputy secretary Claude Allen visited the Mississippi band of Choctaw Indians Monday.
Allen toured several of the Tribe's health care facilities, including the Elderly Activity Center, Head Start and Early Head Start Centers along with the Choctaw Residential and Health Centers.
Allen said the tour will show the impact of his department as the tribe continues to expand access to quality health care and child care programs and applauded the Tribe's efforts.
The number 2 man in HHS and chief operating officer at the U.S. Department of Human Services, Secretary Allen, said he's hopeful that the new nominee for the department's top position will receive a speedy confirmation.
