Over a two week period, students at Carver Middle School gathered 900 food items that are being donated to the Salvation Army and Wesley House.
The project was spearheaded by the student council.
"We were going to try to do something to help and also to spread joy and cheer for the less fortunate, and that's what this project is all about," said co-sponsor Josie Gilchrist Camper. "And also trying to teach our students the importance of giving back to their community."
Mr. Vaughn's home room collected the most of any class, bringing in 200 cans of food.
Carver thanks all students and parents who helped.
