Barbour Comments on Presidential Race

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour was a guest on Fox News Live Wednesday afternoon. He appeared shortly before Sen. John Kerry delivered his concession speech in Boston.

Barbour was asked how the Republicans can reach out to Democrats.

"What I think you're going to see George Bush do in the wake of this tremendous victory is take the American tradition of being conciliatory, to reach out to everybody," Barbour said. "It's something he did very well as governor of Texas and I think he actually made a lot of progress before Sept. 11 on the education bill and his tax cuts, and hopefully we're going to get that mode and I suspect those who told us John Kerry will be conciliatory, I will expect him to do the same thing. That is the American way."

Barbour is a former chairman of the Republican National Committee.
