Alabama Governor Don Siegelman is confirming reports that Alabama is among the states pursuing a Toyota factory, expected to create at least 2,000 new jobs.
Siegelman, in an interview with the Birmingham News said Alabama will pursue the plant "with every capability and the full amount of energy we can.''
Toyota is considering a site in Jackson County, located in northeast Alabama, but reports also have indicated the Japanese automaker is most interested in sites in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi near Memphis.
Siegelman said Alabama is not out of the hunt.
