Federal and state authorities in Tunica County are trying to determine the cause of a weekend plane crash that killed two adults and a child.
Tunica County Chief Deputy Randy Stewart said the single-engine aircraft crashed about 12:20 p.m. Sunday. The victims were an Illinois couple and their nine-year-old grandchild.
"The information was from the witness that the plane went down. They believe that a small part of the aircraft had left or departed the aircraft and the crash occurred around France Road and Steel Road, which is in the southeast portion of Tunica County," said Chief Deputy Randy Stewart.
Stewart said the couple was returning home from a trip to visit relatives in Louisiana.
