President Bush's second inauguration had Mississippi ties.

Sen. Trent Lott was in charge of the swearing-in ceremony and a post-inauguration luncheon at the Capitol for the president and the vice-president.

"We celebrate America today and all of her majesty and the sacrifices made by our troops for our freedom," said Lott.

Alcorn State University's renowned concert choir also performed at the inauguration for the first time ever.

Most of the top members of Mississippi's Republican Party were a part of the events, including Gov. Haley Barbour and State GOP Chairman Jim Herring.
