Shots Fired in Bust

Shots were fired Thursday night when agents of the East Mississippi Drug Task Force and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics attempted to arrest a suspect in a drug deal.

Officials say the suspect, Derrick Miller, 23, hit an officer with his vehicle and tried to drive away. Agents then fired shots at the vehicle to stop Miller. The suspect was not hurt, but he crashed into a tree.

Miller and Travis Burns, 21, were charged with possession and conspiracy to sell cocaine and aggravated assault on an officer.

Bond for each suspect was set at $120,000.
