The United Way of East Mississippi celebrated yet another milestone in its 2004 campaign. The organization has met the 60 percent mark.
The agency is now challenging the community to help them reach the 100 percent mark of $700,000.
"We are urging people to donate. There are still some dollars out there," said campaign chairman Bubba Hampton.
The organization represents 16 agencies such as the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels, just to name two. All contribution dollars stay in the local community.
"What we want to emphasize is that the money stays in the community," said executive director Thad Quarles. "Thus far, we are a little ahead of last year. We just need to keep the momentum. Meals on Wheels provides food for many people in the area."
The United Way would like to complete its 2004 campaign by the end of this month, but say they will continue to accept donations through mid-December. To find out how you can help, call (601) 693-2732.
