Christmas Parade Rescheduled

The soggy weather continued to soak Meridian Saturday. But even so, parade chairman Michelle Pearson had hoped it would let up so the parade could go on. However, for safety reasons organizers decided around 3:00 p.m. to postpone the parade until Dec. 3.

"We decided because it was going to take some time for Comcast to put all of the equipment up and the rain never let up, that we would just let it go," Pearson said. "We also thought that it was safer to not have the kids out in the rain."

And Kasey Privett with the Meridian Downtown Association said the rescheduling of the parade will give those organizations that are still interested in participating a little bit more time to submit their applications.

"Anyone interested can call me and I will get them the information they need," said Privett. "We need the applications back by (Nov. 26) Friday."

Privett may be reached at (601) 482-6699. The parade will be Friday, Dec. 3 at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Meridian.
