Mary Ann Kyle's musical career has taken her to Europe and all over North America, but Sunday she was performing in her home church in Meridian.
She and pianist Theresa Sanchez performed as part of the Catholic Communities Fine Arts Series.
"I am so happy to be here in Meridian, in front of this town," said Kyle.
Kyle has been singing professionally for 15 years, but she says she got her first break at Meridian Little Theatre.
"I did start doing musicals pretty young and I moved into doing opera," Kyle said.
She says music has taken her all over the world, but it was dedicated teachers when she was growing up in Meridian who helped her spread her wings and grow professionally.
"It's not only a desire to perform, but to sing beautiful music," she said.
It was an opportunity to provide a wonderful experience in the fine arts to the community in Meridian," said the Rev. Elvin Sunds, pastor of St. Patrick's.
The Meridian Catholic Community Fine Arts Series is funded by the Mississippi Arts Commission. The next event in the series will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Jan. 9, 2005.
