The suspension of former Carver Middle School teacher, Florence McGowan, has been upheld by the Meridian School Board.
Board members met Friday evening to consider a list of findings based on testimony by witnesses for the district and the teacher.
McGowan served a five-day suspension for allegedly using profanity at school, but her pay has not yet been docked for those days.
"She has 20 days from today to appeal the decision to the Chancery Court of Lauderdale County, if she chooses. And if she doesn't, then the district would at that point deduct the five days pay from her salary," said school board attorney John Compton.
McGowan contends she did not use profanity. Since this allegation, she has been transferred to Meridian's Alternative School.
