Guard Member Dies in Iraq

National Guard officials say 35-year-old Sgt. First Class Sean Michael Cooley of Ocean Springs, died Thursday when an explosive device exploded near his vehicle.

The incident occurred south of Baghdad. The incident is under investigation.

Cooley was a member of Company B, the 150th Combat Engineer Battalion located in Lucedale.

Cooley is the 21st soldier with Mississippi ties killed in the global War on Terror. He is the fifth Mississippi National Guard soldier to die in Iraq.
