Overcoming Strokes

Doctor Joel Callahan, from the Internal Medicine Clinic, was the guest speaker at Monday's Rotary Club meeting in Meridian. He told the group about the importance of knowing the symptoms of stroke.

"The main thing is if someone has a sudden onset of any sort of weakness, numbness, dizziness, slurred speech, difficulty talking. Those are all warning signs of strokes and the important things is that patient recognize the symptoms and call all and not wait until they go away."

Doctor Callahan says patients who are treated within three hours of having a stroke are more likely to fully recover.
