A woman was attacked Tuesday night around midnight in the 2,000 block of 22nd Ave.

She was forced at knifepoint into her assailant's vehicle, robbed of her money and later released.

Police say this type of one-on-one assault is on the rise and citizens should be alert.

"We encourage everyone, if you're out and about, wherever you are, day or night, to pay attention to your surroundings. If a situation looks bad or strange, try to get out of the area. That person that could be coming up to you asking for a simple favor, could be trying to rob you," said Lt. Dean Harper of the Meridian Police Department.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5 foot 6, around 200 pounds with short hair, a beard and mustache.

He was driving a dark blue Buick Roadmaster. If you have information, contact Crimestoppers at (601) 485-1860.
