Gov. Ronnie Musgrove returned to Mississippi Friday after a weeklong economic development trip to Europe.

The governor left for Germany last Saturday. He later traveled to England.

Musgrove was joined on the trip by Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bob Rohrlack. The pair met with business and political leaders while in Europe.

Musgrove said he “made it perfectly clear that Mississippi is open for business” in the overseas meetings.

Spokeswoman Lee Ann Mayo refused to say whether Musgrove met with any automobile company executives on the trip. She said the governor met with both companies already in Mississippi and companies thinking about expanding.

Musgrove also met with German officials about the art exhibit “The Glory of Baroque Dresden” that Mississippi will host in 2004.
