Whether it's the day after Thanksgiving or anytime during the few weeks that follow, almost everyone makes at least one trip to the mall to do some Christmas shopping. The weekend before Christmas is always a busy one and it was certainly no exception this year.
"It's been crazy, but it has been a very good crazy these last couple of days," said Bonita Lakes Mall General Manager Tommy White. "Yesterday was traditionally the largest shopping day of the year. And some of our retailers have told us that it lived up to the expectations."
While he doesn't have the numbers just yet, White believes that Sunday was another successful day with a high volume of traffic throughout the mall. For some people, being out in the crowds this weekend came unintentionally.
"I usually just give out checks or give out money, but she bought me something and had to use my pickup to come get it," said shopper Carl Graham. "So, I kinda got drug into this."
Graham says he doesn't mind the crowds when it comes to shopping this time of year, he jokingly adds that he just steps over them sometimes. And even people that are in the mall on a daily basis aren't immune to the last minute shopping bug. We actually caught up with White as he was heading home after picking up some last minute gifts.
"I'm here every day, but it's crunch time in the office, crunching numbers so I had to take advantage of an off day to come and check on things and make sure everything is going well for our shoppers and while I was here, pick up a couple of things," White said.
And if you haven't made it out to pick up those presents just remember, you're not alone. In fact, there are some people out there that haven't even started.
