Inmate Escapes in DeKalb

Inmate Arthur Milks escaped around 6:00 a.m. Thursday from the Kemper-Neshoba Correctional Facility in DeKalb.

Milks is a 32-year-old white male, 5'6", 160 pounds, with brown hair, beard and mustache.

At the time of his escape, Milks was wearing a long sleeve, blue shirt with white stripes.

Kemper County Sheriff Sam Tisdale said Milks escaped through a ceiling. He said a search for the inmate was further complicated by Milks being gone a couple of hours before it was noticed by jail personnel.

Newscenter 11 was initially told by law enforcement that Milks was serving 80 years on drug charges. However, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections website, Milks was serving 14 years for burglary and had a tentative release date in 2018.

Anyone who has information on Milks' whereabouts may contact the Kemper County Sheriff's Department at (601) 743-2255 or your nearest law enforcement agency.
