The Meridian Police Department has a new way of sharing a familiar message, especially important during the holidays.
"If you drink, you drive, you lose," is a familiar refrain for motorists, thanks to a long-running safety campaign by law enforcement agencies across the nation. It's a catchy warning about the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving.
But this year, the Meridian Police Department is using a fresh new way to share that message, putting good driving advice into a jingle set to the tune of "Good King Wenceslas" and performed by Assistant Police Chief Keith McCary and Captains Tommy Miller and Rick McCary.
The MPD said police will be working overtime during the holidays with plenty of extra officers patrolling the streets.
