A Mississippi soldier accused of stealing weapons from Camp Shelby has been moved to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi where there is a detention center.

Camp Shelby, south of Hattiesburg, does not have a detention center or jail.

Spc. Ernest Leon Minor, 20, of Meridian, was transferred Tuesday.

Camp Shelby spokesman Maj. Doril Sanders says the provost marshal's office “told me it was just standard procedure to take him to a military installation.”

Minor was arrested December 24 after three of five missing guns were found in an off-base house. He was held in the Forrest County Jail on a grand larceny charge until Tuesday when military police transferred him to Keesler.

Four handguns and a semiautomatic carbine were discovered missing December 21 from a 155th Brigade Combat Team weapons room.
