On January 13, the American Red Cross will begin providing disaster relief training in Meridian. Red Cross volunteer Gordon Stewart explains why this is so important.

"When we have a tornado and many, many houses are torn apart and buildings and so forth, it's time for the Red Cross to step in. We need trained community volunteers that can go out and perform these duties and help the Red Cross achieve their goal of helping others in a time of need."

Anyone interested in helping and receiving training in this area can all the American Red Cross at (601) 485-5151.
