Another candidate has qualified to run for a seat on the Meridian City Council.
The Rev. Troy Roscoe, Jr. has announced his candidacy for Ward 5. He says he intends to make a difference.
"My platform is to bring the community back together and back to a standard where people would want to live in the area. We have so many houses that are falling down, it needs a lot of work and I'm here to make a difference in the neighborhood," said Roscoe.
Roscoe is a Democrat. John Calvin Harris, also a Democrat, is in the race and plans a public announcement Saturday. Currently, the Ward 5 seat is held by incumbent Bobby Smith, a Republican who is seeking another term.
