Store Clerk Shot, Robbed

A grocery store employee was shot in a robbery early Monday in Meridian.

Two employees of M & B Grocery at 1802 26th Avenue opened the store around 6:15 a.m. A pair of gunmen were waiting inside.

The suspects gained entry through the roof of the building, according to the Meridian Police Department.

"There was a struggle involved. The two suspects attacked the two employees when they came into the store, while they were opening the store up," said MPD Detective, Dean Harper. "They attacked them. And during the struggle one of the employees was shot in the abdomen."

Multiple shots were fired but the victim was struck once. police would not release the names of the employees, but the injured man is in stable condition at Anderson Hospital.
