Law enforcement officers from Clarke County and Louisiana expect to learn from a Mississippi pathologist in about two weeks the identity of remains found near Shubuta.
The remains were found Monday in a burned car in a remote area of the county.
Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp says the death has been ruled a homicide.
Kemp says the car, a 1988 Toyota Camry, was registered to a woman from Gretna, La., who was listed as a missing person in November 2003.
Kemp says the burned car may have been there for several months.
