The Meridian Community Development and Investment Corporation revealed some ideas it has to help revitalize downtown Meridian at a meeting of the Meridian Rotary Club.
The plans include various museums and educational centers as well as an African-American cultural history center.
These developments are expected to have a long-term effect on the economy and stimulate further growth.
"We are hoping that we can develop facilities in downtown Meridian that will complement and help our efforts in education in this community," said advisory board chairman Bob Malone.
Each project will restore a significant historic building in downtown Meridian.
Officials say the projects will create new jobs.
