Supervisors Back Lockheed Jobs

The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday on a resolution urging the continued production of the C-130J aircraft.

Part of the cargo plane is manufactured at the Lockheed plant in Marion, which employs 156 people.

The board of supervisors is asking the Department of Defense to recognize the value and efficiency of the C-130 for transporting troops and supplies, as well as its impact on the economy locally.

A bipartisan group of senators and congressmen is also urging the Pentagon to keep the C-130. It was the first aircraft to deliver relief to victims of the tsunami in Asia.
