More than 3,000 East Mississippi Electric Power Association customers lost power due to a brief but violent storm Monday night.
A transmission line was severed in northwest Lauderdale and an 80-foot pole supporting the line was broken in the storm.
The severe line of thunderstorms that rolled through caused scattered damage in Lauderdale, Kemper, Newton and Neshoba Counties.
The storm produced heavy rains and wind gusts of up to 75 miles per hour, downing trees and power lines.
EMEPA crews have now permanently repaired the damage caused during the storm restoring power in the affected areas.
It was necessary for some customers to be without power for several hours in order to repair the damage.
