The Meridian-Lauderdale County chapter of the NAACP sponsored its 20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Breakfast Monday morning.
As part of the program, organizers introduced the new president of the local chapter.
"Overall, I would like to continue what has already been started by Mr. (Obie) Clark and Mr. (Walter) Patton. Looking into the school situations and some of the other things in our city and not only in our city but in our nation," said Shirley Lyttle, who began her term with the new year.
On the national level this year, Lyttle said one of the main projects is to address mounting healthcare concerns.
