Son Charged in Father's Death

An arrest has been made in the murder of 48-year-old Lamen Clemons.

Charged in the case is his oldest son, 21-year-old Hillman Clemons, who is currently serving time in federal prison on a separate charge.

On Nov. 1, 2003, Clemons was found shot to death inside his house at 1290 Martin Luther King Drive in Philadelphia. Authorities say he had been shot multiple times. Investigators say no information on a motive is available at this time.

Clemons' son had been a suspect in the case for some time. In fact, shortly after Lamen Clemons was found murdered, his son's car was found abandoned in Meridian.

According to investigators, the vehicle was found just a few days after the murder, abandoned in the parking lot at the bus station.

Lamen Clemons was on the ballot in 1996 when he sought the 3rd Congressional District seat against Chip Pickering. At the time of his death, he owned a locksmith company in Meridian.

Hillman Clemons is in federal prison in Yazoo City where he's set to be released on Mar. 21. At that time he will be returned to Neshoba County to face the murder charge.
