Businesses in Meridian, including WTOK-TV, have received faxes from someone claiming to be in Africa and needing help to get his money out of that country.
Meridian police advise the public this is a scam similar to ones Newscenter 11 has warned you about in the past.
Police say the attorney general's office is looking into complaints about this widespread scam attempt, but does not need any further samples of the message.
Police Lt. Dean Harper says if you get faxes or e-mails of this type, just delete them or throw them away. Do not respond to them.
