The rain did not put a damper on the 9th annual Loose Caboose Fest, which got underway in Newton Saturday.
There was a carnival, arts and crafts, and lots of good food. Organizers tell us added about 30 vendors this year since the event continues to grow. Officials say Loose Caboose is a way to showoff Newton and to benefit the Chamber of Commerce.
"Well, it's just a wonderful festival to work," Magnolia, MS resident Wanda Andre said. "Lots of people come out here and we just enjoy being here with the people."
"We just want to showcase our city because it's beautiful here and we have a lot to offer," Chamber of Commerce director Amanda Reece said.
During Saturday's festival, there was also a welcome home ceremony honoring area veterans and there was also a blood drive.
