Relief for Columbus

Efforts are underway here in Meridian to try to provide some disaster relief to the people of Columbus, where an F-3 tornado ripped through the area.

Meridian radio personality "Big Joe" from 97-OKK was at the super Wal-Mart Tuesday afternoon collecting donations. He said the response has been tremendous.

"We're close to having the Mello Yellow Music Machine full and we're and going to transfer it over to a truck," said the WOKK personality. "Hopefully, it'll be stacked full and delivered to Columbus on Thursday morning.

Many are still without power as a result of the storm. Storm victims are in need of everything from water, food and clothing to toiletries.
