Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie says four male students at West Lauderdale High School have been charged with sexual battery.
Sollie said an incident reportedly happened on campus after school Thursday. He said the allegation is the male students followed a female into a restroom, where at least one of the suspects had inappropriate contact with her.
Sollie said the sheriff's department interviewed the victim and other witnesses prior to filing the charges.
"It'll all be handled through youth court," said Sollie. "Again, the victim was underage as well as the four individuals who are being charged."
Sollie said the four males are charged as juveniles so their names are no released. All four were transported to the Rankin County youth facility Friday.
