A union man has been arrested after an attempted bank robbery in Meridian Monday.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the Highway 19 North branch of Bankplus.
Police officials say the suspect was unsuccessful in his robbery attempt and was arrested by a Lauderdale County sheriff's deputy in Collinsville after fleeing the scene.
"We have arrested Richard L. McCraw, 34-year-old white male from Union," said Lt. Dean Harper. "This is just another example of how Meridian Police (Department) and the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department work together on crimes of this nature."
Police officials say McCraw faces a likely charge of attempted armed robbery.
