A state trooper patrol car and a metro ambulance were struck by an empty log truck on Interstate 59 North, two miles south of the I-20/59 split. It happened around 2:00 p.m.
The trooper was out of the vehicle, investigating the crash of two other vehicles off the road, when the log truck plowed into the trooper car and into the ambulance.
Just as that mishap was being cleared, another truck came along at the same location and struck two Lauderdale County cars, SUV used by an investigator and one deputy patrol car.
The driver of the 18-wheeler with North Carolina plates was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
It was the second wreck at the same location where the original incidents were being investigated.
To our count that's three separate incidents at Interstate 59 northbound at mile marker 147.
No one was seriously hurt in any of the mishaps.
