Moore: Court Ruling an '03 Issue

Attorney General Mike Moore visited Meridian Thursday night, as the featured speaker for the Mississippi Sheriffs' Association Winter Conference.

The main topic was a court ruling on campaign financing in Mississippi that allows issue-based television ads to be run without disclosing the funding source.

Moore said that ruling could affect sheriffs' races in 2003.

"Do you think the tobacco companies would spend $10 million to defeat me if they thought they could get away with it?" asked Moore. "You bet they would, if they knew no one would know who paid to run the ads."

Moore also promoted his state mentoring program for youth.
