Six students were arrested and seven were hospitalized after a riot broke out at Eagle Point Christian Academy in Lucedale, Miss., late Friday.
George County Sheriff Garry Welford said the riot started when cadets shattered windows, overturned bunks and broke chairs. Welford said cadets were apparently upset because of a rumor that the school was going to be investigated by the state.
Authorities said six cadets who were uncooperative with law enforcement were charged with disorderly conduct and were taken to Forrest County Juvenile Detention Center.
Seven were taken to a hospital for treatment, and six were treated and released. The condition of the cadet who remained hospitalized was unavailable and no other details were released because juveniles were involved.
The school was formerly known as Bethel Boys Academy.
