92-Year-Old Wins Willow Trace Beauty Pageant

Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler had a beauty pageant for residents Thursday.

Twelve ladies competed for the title of Ms. Willow Trace.

The ceremony is formal, complete with an emcee and trophies.

92-year-old Viola Thomas won the title.

"Life doesn't end just because they're here in a nursing facility and they can go on to participate, show their interests and show their beauty," said administrator Kenyatta Pearson. "I hope they get to know that they're still loved. And we're willing to help beautify their every part of life."

Thomas will go on to compete in the Alabama Nursing Home Association Pageant in Birmingham.

I would like to add that the sharply dressed young men escorting those lovely lades are MY students at Choctaw County High School and I am awesomely proud of them! They did a great job representing their school and community! Way to go guys!

How invigorating to read something positive; especially when it concerns a Senior Citizen. Viola looks delightful being escorted by a United States Serviceman... Congrats are truly in order, and she has my vote for the B'Ham Pageant. Well done Ms. Thomas and God Bless you with with even more stamina and poise. It is my prayers that she has many more good years of high steps; great smiles and sustained health!!
