A possible contender for the presidency of a prominent religious organization was in the Queen City on Sunday evening.
Fred Luter spoke to members of Northcrest Baptist Church. Luter is up for consideration for the presidency of the Southern Baptist Convention. If elected in June, Luter would be the organization's first black president. We caught up with him Sunday to talk about his possible new role.
"Here it is a month before the convention in a year where there is a presidential election," Luter said. "I look at it in several ways. One way I look at it maybe this is a God thing, maybe this is what God wanted. Second, there are a lot of guys across this community who have been able to respect and admire what I do."
Luter sat down with Newscenter 11's Wade Phillips for a lengthy interview, which you will see more of in the coming days on Newscenter 11.
