Meridian's mayor is proposing a $5 million bond issue to repair and overlay city streets.
"The streets are in such a condition that we're going to have to do significant work there," said Mayor John Robert Smith at his regular news conference. "We also have some drainage issues. I don't mean ditches. I mean city drainage systems that are going to need work."
Smith said the work he has in mind will take the full $5 million to accomplish. The bond issue has not been finally approved.
