Citizens of Meridian are in the unique position of facing a court fight over proposed annexation and paying legal bills for both sides.
City Councilman George Thomas commented on the suit at Tuesday's City Council meeting.
"You're going to pay both sides because Lauderdale County and the Lauderdale County supervisors have decided to protest this and fight this in court, so just understand that as a city, as a city resident, you're going to have plenty of legal representation when this goes to court," said Sr. George Thomas. "You're going to have both sides. You're going to win either way you go. "
The supervisors met with their Jackson attorney Monday and decided to continue to oppose the city's efforts toward annexation.
