The name of a Clarke County deputy sheriff will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington during a candlelight ceremony on Friday.
Deputy Sheriff Robert Goodwin was among 153 law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in 2004.
The memorial remembers the service and sacrifice of more than 17,000 officers who have died while on duty since the earliest known death in 1792.
Of the total, nearly half of the officers were killed in traffic related accidents.
