A pair of local teenagers is behind bars after a robbery and shooting at the Mathis Superette convenience store on Valley Road just outside Meridian Monday morning.
Sheriff Billy Sollie said the store clerk was shot twice in the head area, but is expected to recover.
The suspects arrested after officials received leads in the case are 18-year-old Chris Clark and Travis Jordan, 19, both of Meridian.
Bond was set at $50,000 for each charge.
The job of convenience store clerk has been called the most dangerous in America. More than 700 store clerks were murdered nationwide between 1993 and 2001.
Twenty eight percent of death row inmates are there because of a murder or rape they committed in conjunction with a convenience store robbery.
