Officials are expecting a slight dip in Christmas and New Year's holiday travel this year.

AAA spokesman Don Redman said an estimated 11.2 million Americans are expected to fly this year. That compares to 10.5 million last year.

Redman said the estimated 59.1 million Americans expected to travel at least 50 miles from home is down about one percent from last year. He said 45.9 million people are expected to travel by motor vehicle and two million will travel by bus, train or other means.

Redman said those driving will see cheaper gas rates than last month. He said the average gas price in Mississippi is $1.34 a gallon, about 10 cents cheaper than in November.

Mississippi's airports are expecting a crowd.
