An east Mississippi senator is expected to end speculation about a possible party switch on Monday.
Sen. Terry Burton, a Democrat who represents Newton, Scott and parts of Lauderdale County, will have a news conference at 10:00 a.m. Dec. 30 at Newton City Hall.
Since Lt. Gov. Amy tuck's switch several weeks ago, Burton has been asked if he might do the same. Burton said Thursday he would answer that question Dec. 30.
Burton is now in his third term. Statewide elections are slated for 2003.
