Americans are still paying dearly to drive. A new Lundberg Survey says average gasoline prices are up 64 cents over where they were a year ago.

Friday, the average price of self-serve regular was $3.19 a gallon. That's a jump of 9 cents in two weeks.

In Mississippi, the highest price reported at mississippigasprices.com was $3.21 per gallon in Brooksville and Macon. The lowest was $2.94 at a station in New Albany and a Texaco on Highway 19 South.

In Alabama, among the state's metro areas, AAA reported Montgomery with the cheapest price for regular at $3.13 a gallon. Mobile had the highest price at $3.17.

Of all the cities surveyed nationwide, the cheapest price was in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where a gallon of regular cost $2.95. The highest was in San Francisco at $3.58.
